Best exercises for maintaining and improving our fitness and well-being over the festive season….
Well, actually, it’s no different to any other time of the year… the trick here is to find physical activities you enjoy (ideally a combination of cardio, resistance and stretching/flexibility) so they become so much a part of your life that you’ll look forward to them!
These can take many forms, at a fitness centre or outdoors, by yourself, with a friend or two, or a group of like-minded people.
Group fitness classes are a fun way of doing this (especially in the heat of the Alice Springs summer). 2-3 Body Pump classes a week: a couple of cardio activities (how about ”intervals” on the treadmill or the bike) or a Body Attack or Body Step class, throw in a mind/body experience such as Body Balance and you’ll be on your way to better health & well being, less stressed and have a cheerier outlook on life.
Enjoy the lead-up to the festive season and don’t get frazzled with the Xmas build-up:- “What doesn’t get done today, will get done tomorrow” (and if it doesn’t get done at all, was it that important?)
Rowie Schulz (Essential Fitness, Alice Springs) wins award at 2011 Filex Convention
At the recent Filex 2011 Convention (the biggest Fitness Convention in the southern hemisphere) held in Sydney, Alice Springs owner and manager of Essential Fitness, Rowie Schulz, was announced as the overall Australian winner of the Les Mills Asia Pacific “Most Legendary Group Fitness Manager – 2011″.
Rowie was (unknowingly!) nominated for this by a long-term class participant (who is now an instructor as well). Her nomination stood out as being a true reflection of what members of the Fitness Industry should be about.
Rowie has transformed the lives of instructors and participants by being a strong role model who teaches and operates Essential Fitness with passion and love. She willingly shares her knowledge with anyone who has in interest in fitness (regardless of whether they come to Essential Fitness or not), has conducted seminars for many sporting and community groups around Alice Springs, and has organised in-house workshops for instructors. Rowie has also made available Essential Fitness’ facilities for Les Mills training modules and workshops. Many instructors in Alice Springs have Rowie to thank for access to training and ongoing mentorship and support.
Staff at Essential Fitness are a tight-knit group, chosen for their heart, attitude and willingness to work hard to constantly improve their skills. In fact, they all do more than instruct, they personally know the class members, which makes Essential Fitness more of a family than an exercise facility!
Most of the members are acquired by ‘word of mouth’ rather than through advertising or ‘membership drives’. They range from teenagers to people in their 80′s. Many people, (whether long-term or passing through), comment on how comfortable they feel and what good classes and facilities Essential Fitness has, comparable (and even superior!) to those in big cities!
Well done Rowie and the Essential Fitness Team!
